| Rapid Assessment for Voice Telecom |
This comparative assessment analyzes voice telecom services from efficiency, and effectiveness perspectives. Services delivered are measured against business requirements to understand the trade-off between cost and performance.
Historically for the voice telecom manager, operating more efficiently has meant focusing efforts on reducing usage rates in negotiations with vendors. For many, the savings associated with minimal reductions in rate charges have translated into hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings for the enterprise.
Although reductions in usage rates can offer significant savings in efficiency, delivering effective service to the enterprise requires an understanding of the real cost drivers of your voice telecom operations. To achieve optimal voice services performance compared to that of your peers, the following must be negotiated vigorously and tracked: hardware, software, personnel and indirect costs, as well as usage. A voice telecom manager must understand all of these components to deliver service that meets the business needs.
As the chart below (figure 8) indicates, XYZ has done a commendable job in managing the hardware/software, personnel and circuit components of total cost per minute.
