Gartner Dataquest has corrected some of its statistics for market shares in the application delivery controller segment of the worldwide market for application acceleration equipment in 3Q06. The revised numbers, published on 29 January 2007 in "Market Share: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide, 3Q06" (G00146098), put Nortel in fifth place for revenue from application delivery controllers in 3Q06, with a market share of 5.2%. The incorrect figures were published on 7 December 2006 in an identically titled document coded G00145252, which has been withdrawn.
We have revised In "AT&T Closes BellSouth Deal by Making Only Small Concessions" (G00145639), we incorrectly stated that AT&T would give up the 2.3 and 2.6 GHz spectrum owned by BellSouth. We have updated this document to reflect the specific conditions that AT&T agreed to abide by following the transfer of this spectrum. We also clarified the recommendation on BellSouth data services to "don't sign up for new BellSouth data services unless they are part of a new portfolio/platform."
We have revised "Market Share and Forecast: CDI Hub Software, Worldwide, 2005-2010" (G00145406), dated 21 December 2006. Its new title is "Market Share and Forecast: CDI Hub Software, Worldwide, 2005-2010 (Composite View)." We’ve changed the summary to reflect the fact that this report offers a composite view of the CDI market, and we’ve added Reference 7-4, "Definition of a Composite View of the Market," to Chapter 7. Dataquest Insight: Seven Things Vendors Must Do to Succeed in IP Telephony for the SMB Market, dated 13 October 2006, has been revised to remove the following sentence from the second paragraph of the document: "With SMBs expected to spend $6 billion worldwide on IP telephony by 2009, vendors realize that they can focus on the SMB market and make real money." Our forecast numbers for SMB IP telephony are still undergoing analyst review and will be published separately.

We recently published a research report, "25 Years of the PC: The Long Goodbye", dated 14 September 2006, with incomplete information. The document is currently under revision and will be published shortly with updated information.
A correction has been made to the Gartner Dataquest Market Statistics report titled Forecast: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide, 2005-2010. The changes correct WAN Optimization Controller end-user spending and revenue for 2005 in Tables 1-1, 3-1 and 3-2. As a result, we now forecast that end-user spending on these products will rise by only 28% in 2006.
A correction has been made to research report titled 'Offshore BPO' Becomes Irrelevant as Service Providers Go Global. The change is to Table 1, CAGR is 65% for India and 70% for Total Offshore.
On 31 August 2006, we republished Magic Quadrant for Offshore Application Services, 2006. We added a note stating that a weighting was applied to recognize the U.S. as the predominant buying market. Vendors that had a strong presence in the U.S. therefore were in a stronger position for inclusion than those with a greater focus on the European market and a weak presence in the U.S.

The original document stated that ProSight was dropped from the MQ and had "abandoned the market." In fact, ProSight continues to sell PPM applications but is refocusing on other core markets.
The phrase "despite a limited R&D budget" was dropped from PowerSteering’s write-up. PowerSteering’s budget is in line with other vendors of comparable size.
A Gartner Strategic Planning Assumption was moved to provide better context.
Table 9 has been deleted from Sell-Side Trading Systems: Software Directory Columns. Its description of the MX.3 product from Murex has been removed at that company's request. Gartner is still able to provide information on this product to end-user clients that request it.
In Table 1-1 of Forecast: Mobile Phone Production and Semiconductor Market, Worldwide, 2003-2010 (1Q06 Update), we listed incorrect company names against market shares in some instances. We have now corrected the table.
We have revised the revenue numbers from 2006 through 2009 in Tables 1 and 2 of Market Trends: Electronic Design Automation, Worldwide, 2005 in the CAE, ESL and Miscellaneous sections. We have revised the CAGR percentages for those sections as well.
Recently, Gartner released a case study Nova Scotia Uses Shared Services to Align Operations Across the Province on a shared services project under way in the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Inadvertently, a version of this case study was published prior to complete clarification of all relevant details. The details of the case study have now been clarified and agreed upon by the provincial government and the appropriate version of this case study is now available.
We have updated Microsoft's Global Consumer Play Begins to Unfold to reflect information received after publication. Although the positioning of the document is unchanged, we have made a number of changes to clarify this positioning.

A recently published research report, "Findings From the 'Collaboration' Research Community: Focus on Business Issues, Not Emotions, When Considering IBM Lotus Domino," dated 23 November 2005, has been replaced with a more in-depth report, published 23 November 2005. The updated report provides substantially deeper analysis.
In the reference section 2-1 of our Forecast: Enterprise CRM, ERP and SCM IT Services Solutions we listed an incorrect percentage for comparison. We are replacing 53 percent with 37 percent for the amount of the worldwide consulting and integration services opportunity in 2004 that was represented by enterprise solution segments
In our 23 May 2005 report entitled, No Clear Winner in Overall RDBMS Market Share Race, the 2004 RDBMS market share for Oracle on the Linux platform was incorrectly identified as 69.1 percent. The correct market share is 80.5 percent. We have corrected and republished the document.
In our 1 April 2005 report entitled, User Feedback Reveals Ups and Downs of Strohl's Business Continuity Planning Software, the "What You Need to Know" section contained information about customer satisfaction with the Living Disaster Recovery Planning System that could be misinterpreted. The report has been updated with the correct information.
In the research document User Study: Server Preferences of Large Organizations, Asia/Pacific, 2005 (G00126732), the wrong Summary was inadvertently included with the document and the associated Executive Summary. The corrections have been made and the documents have been republished with the correct Summary.
In the research document Organizations Should Revisit Browser Standardization, the name of a software distribution and management tool was incorrectly identified. The correct name is HP/Radia.
In our research report "Forecast: SCM License Revenue, Worldwide, 2003-2008, Update (G00124483), published 19 October 2004, the license revenue for Intentia and IFS were misrepresented by the inclusion of maintenance revenue. We have adjusted our estimates for i2 Technologies because of publicly available information that was recently released. The correction represents 0.0047 percent of the worldwide SCM market. The effect is so minimal that no change is felt necessary. However, changes to individual vendor market share in each region, industry and OS have slightly affected each SCM segment's size and forecast for 2003 through 2008. An updated report has been published titled Forecast: SCM License Revenue, Worldwide, 2003-2008, Update (G00125530).

In our 17 December 2004 research document Despite Growth, Next Downcycle for Semiconductor Market Under Way, (G00125446), there were some minor changes made to Table 1; in particular, Matsushita's and Fujitsu's numbers were in error. There was also a typographical error in the text in which we stated that the Memory market grew 54.4 percent. The actual growth rate for the Memory market was 44.7 percent. It was the DRAM market that grew 54.4 percent. We have corrected and republished the document.

We have adjusted our estimates for i2 Technologies because of publicly available information that was recently released.

In the research document Branch and AML Vendors Can Profit From Collaboration (G00124383) we incorrectly reported the FBI estimate of annual check fraud losses, and have corrected the amount to $4 billion per year.
In MarketScope: E-Recruitment Software (G00125175), a correction was made regarding SAP E-Recruiting. The application can integrate with HR as far back as version 4.0B.
In our 12 August 2004 research document The Australian IT Services Market Is Recovering, (G00122266) we failed to include four service contracts in a list of selected contracts entered into in 2004. We have added two April contracts and two June contracts to the list and republished the document.
A recent Gartner research report, Nashuatec Turns Its Service Organization Into a Profit Maker (G00123641), published 13 September 2004, did not credit ClickSoftware's ClickSchedule product for its role in field service optimization at Nashuatec. A revision to the report acknowledging ClickSoftware was published on 14 September 2004.
In Information Democracy: Are We There Yet? (COM-23-0777), one of the examples for customers did not accurately reflect the impact on the customer relationship: "Car lease companies share management information with the fleet managers of their corporate clients. Consequently, the cars and the service processes do not provide competitive differences between suppliers." It has been updated to correct this oversight: "The cars and processes of car lease companies do not provide competitive differences between suppliers. Consequently, car lease companies share management information with the fleet managers of their corporate clients to differentiate through service."
In our 15 July 2004 report, Vendor Rating: PeopleSoft Is More Than Just HR (VDR-21-4592), in the Detailed Ratings table, the subcategory "Project Portfolio Management" under "Market Offerings" was erroneously called "Product Portfolio Management." In the text and Acronym Key, PPM was erroneously labeled "product portfolio management." The acronym actually represents the term "project portfolio management."
In our 10 June 2004 research document Service Providers Deliver E-Mail Active Archiving it was erroneously reported that ZANTAZ claims to have more than 3 million message and documents under management. The actual figure is 3 billion. The note has been corrected.
In a Gartner research report Vendor Rating: Pivotal Is Stronger, but Challenges Remain published 1 June, Gartner inadvertently listed Pivotal's Contact Center product as only running on Pivotal's C++ based Windows 32-bit client when it also runs on its Rich Client (the Rich Client, formerly named Active Client, provides a Web browser-based user interface for LAN/connected users). Gartner also noted that Pivotal does not have the support of a reseller network for penetrating midsize businesses and small enterprises. Although this is true in North America, Pivotal has more than 95 reseller partners in its international regions that account for over 50 percent of its international business. A revision to the report was published on 4 June.
In the Gartner Dataquest research report titled Market Shares: Tape Automation Systems, Worldwide, 2003 published 23 April 2004, one Quantum product model was inadvertently included in the 20 Cartridges or Fewer category instead of the 21 to 100 Cartridges category in the SFF Half-Inch Cartridge segment. The correction affects the Quantum and industry totals shown in Tables 7-4 and 7-5. It also has a minor effect on the other vendors' market shares in these two tables.
In the 20 May 2004 Market Statistics document titled Market Share and Forecast: Broadband Access, Asia/Pacific and Japan, 1998-2008, we had not updated the currency exchanges for various countries. Furthermore, some compound annual growth rates listed for 2003 through 2007 were actually for 2003 through 2008. We also revised the title to "Forecast: Broadband Access, Asia/Pacific and Japan, 1998-2008, 1Q04" to show that it is a quarterly update.
In our 26 April 2004 document, Fab Database: Worldwide, 1Q04 Update (Executive Summary) Agilent's Fab B4 in Fort Collins, Colorado, was incorrectly listed as a fab to close in 2004. Agilent's fab is ramping up rapidly, with no plans to close. This information has been corrected, and the document has been updated 25 May 2004."
In the Gartner Dataquest Alert titled, Semiconductor Vendors Saw High Growth in China in 2003, published 7 April 2004, we misstated the revenue numbers for Philips Semiconductors. Consequently, the company ranking and the total industry revenue were also incorrect. The Alert was replaced with a corrected version on 24 May 2004.
In Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Search, 2004, the dates applied to FAST's sales of enterprise search technology have been corrected: $42 million in 2004, up from $36 million in 2003 (the incorrect dates listed 2003 and 2002).
In "Magic Quadrant for Web Conferencing, 2004," the description of Oracle's Web Conferencing has been corrected to say it includes voice capture and streaming but lacks full voice over IP (VoIP).
On 22 April, 2004 we published a report entitled, "OpenPages Acquisition Resolves PwC Software Challenges." This report was published in error and has been deleted. A new report that analyzes OpenPages' acquisition of PricewaterhouseCooper's Internal Controls Workbench product will be published soon.
In our 26 April 2004 document, Fab Database: Worldwide, 1Q04 Update (Executive Summary), SEMC-WW-EX-0342, NEC's M-Line Fab in Roseville, California, was incorrectly listed as a fab to close in 2004. NEC's fab is running at full production, with no plans to close. This information has been corrected, and the document has been updated 11 May 2004.
In "Choosing the Right Solution for Application Acceleration" one of the vendor's names was incorrect. The correct name is Redline Networks (not Redline Communications).
In our 4 March report entitled "Magic Quadrant for Business Process Analysis, 2004" we erroneously referred to Corel/iGrafx as Corel/Micrografx. Since acquiring the company, Corel has ceased referring to it by the name Micrografx. The report and the Magic Quadrant have been updated to reflect this correction.
In the Gartner research report titled "Service Provider Router Market Share: Worldwide, 4Q03" published 18 February 2004, the market share information for Cisco Systems has been re-reported by the vendor. The data affects Cisco and industry totals shown in Tables 1-2, 2-2 and 2-3. Information concerning core service provider routers and edge sales has also been updated in the Market Overview section of Chapter 3.
In the Gartner research report "Are You Ready for Corporate Performance Management?" published 30 January 2004, the third answers (c) to questions 9 and 13 were incorrectly phrased. The answers have been corrected and the research report republished.
In a Gartner research report "Don't Follow the Example of HP and Time for Imaging Projects" published 19 February, Gartner inadvertently listed Persist Technologies' AppStor active-archiving product as a component of a recently announced deal between HP and TIME. A revision to the report was published on 23 February removing the reference to Persist/AppStor"
In a report titled "Worldwide Internet Access, 2003," published 7 October 2003, the data for Internet subscribers in Asia/Pacific did not conform to the intended definition for number of access seats. Instead, the data included the number of persons using the Internet. Therefore, we have revised and updated this report based on the intended definition. The title for the updated report is "Worldwide Internet Access, 2003 Update."
On 6 February we published a research report entitled Quest's Acquisition of Aelita Could Complicate Customer Plans. That title misrepresented the tone of the document and has been changed to Quest Boosts Microsoft Management With Aelita. In this same piece, we mistakenly reported that U.S. law prevents Quest and Aelita from announcing an integration roadmap until the acquisition is complete. This inaccuracy has been fixed in the updated version currently available on gartner.com.
In our 16 January 2004 report, Global Telecommunications Market Take, 4Q03, Table 2 contained incorrect revenue and growth numbers for 2001 and incorrect growth numbers for 2002. The table was corrected on 11 February 2004.
In the Gartner Dataquest Market Statistics report Worldwide Switching Market Forecast Update, 1998-2007,the labels in Table 1-1 for Service Provider Router (SPR) and Backbone Multiservice Provider (BMSP) were transposed so that SPR revenue was attributed to BMSP and vice versa. In addition, revenue data for SPR for 2001 in each of the Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Middle East and Africa countries and regions was incorrectly entered. The same data was correctly reproduced in the regional document "Switching Equipment: Western Europe Midyear Update, 1998-2007."
In our 14 October 2003 report, 2002 NSM Market Statistics and Vendor Shares, we did not include Quest's Shareplex product as a network and systems management (NSM) product. Gartner has reclassified the Quest Shareplex product as an NSM product for 2002. This increases Quest's NSM revenue estimate by about $17 million in the Availability and Performance category and in the total NSM aggregation. This change increases the estimate of Quest's NSM growth rate.
There is no material impact on the findings of the 2002 NSM Market Statistics and Vendor Shares report. There are slight and immaterial changes to total regional and operating systems estimates in Tables 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-11, 1-12. There is no impact on the NSM forecast outlook.
In Hardware Platforms Weekly, Issue 41, the "Dell and HP Announce New Handheld Computers" articled incorrectly stated that Dell would delay a wireless PDA that it announced with Good Technology in April 2003. Dell has not announced an indefinite delay of this wireless PDA. A correction of this oversight also appears in The Hardware Platforms Weekly, Issue 43.
In our 13 January report, Designers Reveal Requirements for Next-Generation ASICs and FPGAs, incorrect data was used in creating Figures 5-12, 5-13, 5-14 and 5-15. The data in these figures has been corrected, and the report has been updated as of 15 October 2003.
In our 18 August report, AIM and Portal Market Forecast and Trends, 2002-2007 the growth rates in Table 6-2, Table 7-2, Table 8-3 and Table 9-2 were incorrectly listed under the wrong years. The data in these Tables has been corrected, and the report has been updated as of 28 August 2003.
In our 8 July 2003 report, 2002 Database Management Systems Market Share the new license revenue for Oracle was incorrectly allocated across all regions, except Europe. This affected market share across the Total Database and Relational Database segments. The data for these segments and regions has been corrected, and the report has been updated as of 7 August 2003.
In our 11 July 2003 report entitled, Mobile Terminal Market Shares: Japan, 1Q03, the unit sales for Panasonic in Table 1-5, "Japan: 1Q03 Camera-Embedded Terminal Market Shares Compared With 1Q02," were incorrectly reported, which also affected the Total line and market share percentages for other vendors. Table 1-5 has been corrected and the report has been updated.
In our 29 May 2003 report, 1H03 Worldwide Electronic Equipment Production and Semiconductor Consumption Forecast, 2001-2007, Tables 1-5 and 1-6 were missing two line items (Routers, and Service Provider and SONET/SDH). The tables were corrected to include the missing lines and the report has been updated.
In our 16 April 2003 report entitled Final 2002 Worldwide Semiconductor Market Share, the 2002 rankings were erroneously reported under 2001 and vice versa in Table 2-22, and some percentages were wrong. Table 2-22 has been corrected and the report has been updated.
In our 25 April Dataquest Alert entitled Server Shipments Slip Sequentially, Grow Yearly in 1Q03, we stated that "HP extended its worldwide unit market share leadership…". To clarify, this means that HP "extended" or continued its position in a series of reporting periods. It does not mean that HP has grown its absolute market share.
HP is still the lead in worldwide shipments despite a two percentage point decrease in worldwide market share in the quarter. Furthermore, HP maintained its U.S. market share year on year in shipments, although it lost that share leadership position in the U.S.
In our 15 April 2003 report entitled Tape Automation Systems Market Shares, 2002, one vendor's library product in the Small Form Factor Half-Inch Cartridge/Other Data Cartridge and DLT/SDLT/LTO automation segment was incorrectly included in the 20 Cartridges or Less category. It should have been included in the 21 to 100 Cartridges category. This correction reduced the total units for 2002 and 2001 in Tables 7-3 and 7-4, and it resulted in increasing the total units for 2002 and 2001 in Tables 7-8 and 7-9. This change also resulted in changes to the vendors' market shares in the tables referenced and also led to some slight shifts in vendor rankings. The overall market size for this segment and for the total tape automation systems market remains unchanged.
In our March 20 report entitled PLM Market Requires Best-of-Breed and ERP Capabilities (M-19-4411), we stated that Agile Software suffers from declining revenue and ongoing quarterly losses. Revenue has not been declining. It has been improving since July 2002. However, Agile is reporting quarterly losses.
In our March 5 report entitled Web Hosting: Comparison Columns (DPRO-96696), we erroneously stated that IBM had exited the Web hosting services market. IBM has not stopped offering Web Hosting services, but it has stopped selling the Service Provider Edition of its WebSphere Commerce Suite. The report has been updated to reflect this correction.
In the Gartner Market Trends report Security Software Market: Europe, 1999-2006 (SWSF-EU-MT-0109;SWSI-WW-MT-0114), Microsoft's estimated annual European security revenue historical time series, representing Microsoft's 2000 European security revenue estimate was inaccurately listed as $19.5 million. The estimate should be $16.5 million (Table 6-1 and Figure 6-1). The report has been updated to reflect this change. The estimated size of the total security market in Europe and of the other security segment in 2000 were not affected.
In Research report M-14-3380, Consumer Goods Industry SFA 2H0l Magic Quadrant, October 1, 2001, we inadvertently reported that ASI Business Solutions, Inc, (ASI) had been acquired. This may have given the erroneous impression that ASI no longer provides products and services in the CRM market. This statement is a correction of this error. ASI continues to design and deliver CRM solutions for pharmaceutical sales and marketing. They are active in the prescription, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and over-the-counter (OTC) markets, and their client base includes many well-known pharmaceutical companies.
