STAMFORD, CT, September 4, 2002 - Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) today announced James Dougherty (45) has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Markets reporting to Steve Tait, Executive Vice President, Global Sales, Markets and Client Services.
Dougherty will oversee all operations of Gartner Global Sales and Markets managing more than 1,100 associates responsible for relationships with 10,500 client organizations worldwide.

Dougherty brings a wealth of senior sales leadership and general management skills to Gartner. He spent nine years with Lotus Development Corporation where he held numerous positions including National Sales Manager for Lotus' One Source and Global Accounts, and was the founding General Manager of Lotus' Internet Applications Group. He was also Executive Vice President and General Manager of Prodigy Business Solutions Group and the Prodigy Software subsidiary when it went public. Most recently, Dougherty was Chairman and CEO of Intralinks, a five-year-old company focused on services for secure communications between companies over the Internet. Dougherty grew the company over 500% in revenues and raised $50 million in venture capital in the post-dot com era.
A graduate of Framingham State College, Dougherty holds a Graduate CSS in Finance & Administration from Harvard University. He also has a Masters in International Economics & Politics from Columbia University.
Dougherty resides in Pleasantville, New York with his wife and three children.
