Gartner Names Scott Fertig Chief Information Officer
Industry Veteran Joins Gartner's Executive Leadership Team
STAMFORD, Conn., September 25, 2002 — Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) today announced that Scott Fertig has joined the company as senior vice president and chief information officer, reporting to Michael D. Fleisher, chairman and CEO.

As CIO, Fertig, 43, will be responsible for Gartner's overall technology strategy, IT investment portfolio and IT alignment with the company's business objectives. Specifically, Fertig will focus on business workflow for Gartner's 4,000 associates, project management, and enhanced interactive technologies for the benefit of more than 10,000 clients worldwide.

Fertig brings 22 years of technology and business experience in the consulting and media industries to Gartner. He was previously CEO of Mirror Worlds Technologies, Inc., and CTO and CIO of TechRepublic, a subsidiary of CNET Networks. Most recently, Fertig was a principal at Narrowcast Partners, a strategic business and IT consultancy.

Fertig holds a master of arts degree and a master of philosophy degree in computer science from Yale University and is a graduate of Hampshire College. He resides in Branford, Connecticut, with his wife and two children.
