Gartner Total Value of Opportunity Software Now Available to Vendors
STAMFORD, CONN., March 25, 2003 Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) announced that Total Value of Opportunity (TVO) software is now available for vendors. TVO is a software tool that measures the business value of IT projects. The software is based on the Gartner Business Performance Framework, which has been developed in conjunction with leading IT solution providers, business users and academics.
"The Gartner TVO methodology implemented in this new software tool meets the challenge of measuring the business value of IT investments," said Michael Smith, Gartner vice president. "Vendor organizations that engage the TVO tool in their sales process will be able to express their IT capabilities in terms that business executives will understand. Technology budgets are tight, so business units and financial teams are demanding to see the total value of opportunity for each IT investment."
The TVO software enables vendor organizations to lead enterprises through a comprehensive diagnostic that evaluates the strategic alignment, business process impact and risk assessment of particular IT initiatives. The TVO Final Report enables a vendor organization to deliver the projected financial benefits of the IT project and to assess an enterprise's ability to achieve the projected benefits of a specific IT initiative.
Several members of the TVO Advisory Board are using this revolutionary software to demonstrate the value of their technology solutions for particular customers. Enterprises can use TVO to measure virtually any IT project under consideration.
"Business units and financial officers are demanding close scrutiny of all investments," continued Smith. "TVO is a strategic precursor to making prudent IT investments."
TVO software presentations will be conducted this week at Symposium/ITxpo 2003 in San Diego. Gartner representatives will be conducting one-on-one demonstrations throughout Gartner Symposium/ITxpo on the main floor across from the ITxpo entrance. Marketplace Theater presentations will also be held Tuesday, March 25, at 4:30 p.m., PST, and Thursday, March 27, at 4:00 p.m., PST, also on the main floor.
