Gartner's B2B eMarketplaces Conference Sold Out
Boston, Mass., November 7, 2000 — Gartner Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) announced today that the B2B eMarketplaces conference, being held in Boston through November 8th, is officially sold out.
B2B eMarketplaces, a key event for anyone with a role to play in developing business-to-business (B2B) e-marketplace strategies, exceeded expectations with more than 350 attendees. This is the first year for this conference. It will be an annual event held again next fall.
Panel discussions were held on automotive and high-tech e-marketplaces, and on reintermediating the retail supply chain. Industry leaders featured on the panels were from Detroit Diesel, Ford Motor Company's B2B division, the Federal Trade Commission, Intel, e-Steel, Staples and GlobalnetXchange. Analyst presentations covered topics ranging from how e-marketplaces are changing business strategy to advanced technologies and e-marketplaces to strategies for secure communications.
"Audience response to this event clearly illustrates a high level of interest in both the business and technical-related issues associated with online exchanges," said Cardie Templeton, director of product and business development, Gartner Worldwide Conferences. "From banking and insurance to high tech, consumer goods and industrial manufacturing, virtually every vertical B2B segment appears to be assessing or adopting the e-marketplaces concept. We are delighted to be providing these companies with a cross-industry platform for sharing business models, technical insight and best practices."
