Roles and Responsibilities
Bettina Tratz-Ryan is a Research Vice President and responsible for smart ecosystems and the environmental sustainability research worldwide. She analyzes the business value of the Internet of Things and complex technology architectures for smart cities, as well as the intelligent subsystems in infrastructure for transportation and utility, as well as buildings. She also works on the business impact related to the development of the Industrie 4.0 framework. In addition, Mrs. Tratz-Ryan understands approaches to build, position and implement operational green IT goals and process- and strategy-focused environmental sustainability road maps compliant to DIN EN ISO 14001 (1221-2009). Before that role, she was responsible for the analysis of strategic transformation projects of communications service providers worldwide. With Gartner for 17 years, Mrs. Tratz-Ryan has more than 20 years of industry experience in IT networking for telecommunications, utilities, transportation, healthcare and local governments.
Previous Experience
Ms. Tratz-Ryan joined Gartner with the acquisition of Northern Business Information (NBI). At NBI, she was responsible for the European residential broadband equipment and services market, as well as contributing to research, assessing issues of the deployment of high-definition TV (HDTV) technology and videoconferencing equipment. Prior to joining NBI, she worked as a consultant analyst with Frost & Sullivan, where she covered video and broadband issues, the U.S. video and audio production and postproduction markets, the U.S. cable TV equipment, and the U.S. videoconferencing systems and services market. Before Frost & Sullivan, she worked at Siemens Medical Systems in Germany and in the U.S., conducting research on customer buying centers, healthcare reform, marketing strategies and customer order management.
