Roles and Responsibilities
David Willis is a VP and Distinguished Analyst in Gartner Research. He is Chief of Research for Mobility and Communications and runs Gartner's Senior Research Board. Mr. Willis sets the direction and framework for worldwide integrative research across all aspects of mobile computing, mobile devices, networking, and telecommunications equipment and services. He has expertise in the management of mobile computing for large enterprises, including technology selection and policies. He is responsible for research and advisory services in communications planning, metrics, infrastructure and sourcing strategies. He is an advisor in the planning of IP networks for some of the largest enterprise customers in the world, including those in the financial services, government, pharmaceutical, medical, retail and IT outsourcing sectors.
As head of Gartner's Senior Research Board, he is responsible for Gartner's major research themes promoted throughout the year, as well as position management and conflict resolution.

Previous Experience
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Willis was networking research practice lead at the Meta Group. Prior to Meta, he served as managing editor for Network Computing Magazine. Mr. Willis was previously responsible for system integration at the American Red Cross, serving as chief technology advisor to the CIO and leading the organization's technology standardization and transformation efforts.
