Roles and Responsibilities
Earl Perkins is a research vice president in the Security and Privacy team at Gartner. His focus areas include: (1) identity and access management (IAM), including user provisioning, role life cycle management and entitlement management; (2) IAM services, including consulting, integration, managed services, and IAM as a service; (3) IAM strategy, architecture and governance; 4) SOA and cloud computing IAM; and (5) energy and utility security services and management.
Previous Experience
Mr. Perkins has more than 28 years of information technology and security experience, including industry experience in education, energy and utility businesses in planning, architecting, designing, engineering, managing and operating local-area, wide-area and Internet-based networks, as well as developing and delivering applications for them. He has been recognized for achievements in designing, deploying and securing systems, applications, voice and data networks for three corporations (two U.S.-based and one international), managing IT restructurings in the utility and energy industries. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Perkins held director positions at Microsoft in market research and vice president/senior director positions in IT research firm Meta Group, where he was part of Security & Risk Strategies and Global Network Strategies practices, respectively. He also held IT management and technical roles for Entergy, an electric utility based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and senior manager positions at London Energy in London, England.
