Roles and Responsibilities
Bill Malik is a research director in Gartner Research. He delivers solutions and strategies to clients seeking improvement in data center efficiency, operations and business continuity.
Previous Experience
From the beginning of his IT career in 1974, Mr. Malik has been interested in the core issues of the value of IT and the efficiency of the procedures that deliver that value. Writing payroll code for the John Hancock in the 1970s, working as a developer, tester, business planner and strategic planner at IBM from 1978 through 1990, and working as an analyst at Gartner from 1990 through 2001, Mr. Malik had the opportunity to understand the conflux of processes and technical capabilities that offer IT value to the business. He has helped firms improve their business continuity and information security programs, and guided organizations toward effective IT cost recovery, sourcing, organizational structure and service-level objectives.
