Biometrics is an emerging authentication and identification method that includes a variety of technologies. Many biometric products have the potential for technical improvement and require application-specific and vendor-specific advice for optimum performance. Nevertheless, biometric implementations provide a compelling solution in specific scenarios, and are encouraged by the increase of IT security in financial services and government sectors.
