Field Research E-Mail System Management: Business Decisions for a Mission-Critical Application
23 May 2011

Bill Pray

With the growing availability of software as a service (SaaS) e-mail, enterprises are rethinking everything about e-mail. With SaaS implying that e-mail is now a utility, enterprises need to decide whether they can truly turn e-mail into a utility by putting it in the cloud. This is not a foregone conclusion: Recent product changes have made running e-mail in-house less expensive and e-mail server applications more virtualization friendly. In this field research document, Research Director Bill Pray provides an in-depth view of the research obtained from the field research project regarding the business aspects of e-mail system management.
