Amazon Web Services 2011: Is It Enterprise Ready?
11 October 2011

Kyle Hilgendorf   Drue Reeves

Amazon Web Services' (AWS) innovation, ease of use, and unique business model continue to define the cloud computing infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) market. Although AWS is an easy-to-use, general-purpose cloud platform, IT organizations are asking whether it can meet the requirements found in many enterprise organizations. In this Gartner assessment, Principal Research Analyst Kyle Hilgendorf and VP Distinguished Analyst Drue Reeves examine both AWS's technical capabilities (i.e., availability, management, security, scalability, and performance) and service-related items to determine whether AWS is ready for broad-scale enterprise adoption.
