2012 Planning Guide: Data Center, Infrastructure, Operations, and Internal Cloud
1 November 2011

Drue Reeves   Richard Jones   Chris Wolf   Matthew Brisse   Alessandro Perilli   Kyle Hilgendorf   Nik Simpson

In 2012, data centers will continue their transformation from a virtualized, consolidated, and centralized IT infrastructure to a service-oriented, efficient internal cloud. The new data center will enable internal customers to consume IT as a service, host critical apps and data, and connect to the public cloud. This transformation is the result of the pressure public cloud computing exacts on IT organizations to compete with cloud providers as well as the need to support a growing mobile workforce. To support this transformation, IT organizations must change the way they operate -- becoming the broker for all IT services (internal or external).
