Cloud computing continues to be a rapidly growing, volatile, and immature market that is full of cloud service providers (CSPs) with varying degrees of service types and quality. In 2011, security, liability, licensing, transparency, and provider lock-in were the top cloud issues. Although these issues remain, in 2012, the industry's attitudes toward cloud computing will change. To reduce costs, house critical apps and data, and reduce shadow IT, IT organizations will need to become the broker to both internally and publicly hosted cloud services (i.e., hybrid IT). CSPs will continue their journey toward "enterprise-grade clouds" by using cloud security standards, increased transparency, and negotiable SLAs to address enterprise IT concerns.
