Roles and Responsibilities
Jackie Fenn is a Vice President and Gartner Fellow in executive leadership and innovation at Gartner. She works with organizations to define and apply best practices in innovation, including assessing innovation maturity, creating an innovation or emerging-technology group, driving a culture of innovation, and defining an innovation process. She also advises leading enterprises on how emerging technology and societal trends will transform their business, with a particular emphasis on the three- to 10-year time horizon. Ms. Fenn has created numerous models and frameworks for examining trends and technologies, and she is the originator of the Gartner Hype Cycle model, which has been adopted by news media and other organizations worldwide to explain how technologies move from hype to disillusionment and beyond. Her book "Mastering the Hype Cycle: How to Choose the Right Innovation at the Right Time" was published by Harvard Business Press in 2008.

Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Fenn was a principal consultant at Logica North America, where she was responsible for artificial intelligence activities within the United States. She consulted to commercial and government organizations about the appropriate application of intelligent technologies, and designed and built expert systems for a range of tasks, including product formulation and medical diagnosis.
