Gartner consultants share certain common traits that allow us to make significant contributions to our client's most pressing technology and business issues.   • Problem Solving and Strategic Thinking: Thinks critically and anticipates, recognizes, identifies, and develops solutions to problems in a timely manner. Synthesizes facts, trends, inferences, and key issues and/or themes in complex situations. Recognizes patterns and relationships between apparently unrelated entities or situations. Examines issues and plans with a long-term perspective, as well as critically evaluate external and internal factors. This not only requires outstanding intellectual abilities and rigor, but also a good, practical sense of what works and does not work in complex organizations.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Consistently displays awareness and sensitivity to the needs of internal and/or external clients. Proactively ensures these needs are met or exceeded. Maintains clear communication with clients regarding mutual expectations. Anticipates client needs by seeking information about the apparent, as well as underlying, requirements. Makes concrete attempts to add value and enhance client's ability to achieve their business goals. Working with our clients and multiple stakeholders, with often tight deadlines requires outstanding energy, determination, and judgment.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Fosters an environment where individuals collaborate in pursuit of common mission and mutual goals. Involves others to leverage additional knowledge or skills that lead to increased understanding. Obtains shared commitment to the improvement or success of an event or project. Shares knowledge, skills, or expertise with others. Skills in interacting with people in sometimes tough situations are critical to driving distinctive client impact.
  • Leadership and Influence: Encourages and facilitates cooperation within the organization and with client groups. Fosters commitment, team spirit, pride, and trust. Communicates ideas or positions in a persuasive manner that build support, agreement, or commitment. Takes actions that directly or indirectly influence others to create buy-in, gain trust, and motivate actions in others or win concessions without damaging relationships. Leading people and fostering effective teamwork are key to success both within Gartner and with our clients. Gartner consultants need outstanding leadership skills in order drive positive change in complex organizations.
  • Associate Consultant:

    The Associate Consultant is viewed as a resource in one or more technology areas. The Associate Consultant is becoming familiar with core offerings and works with team members on deliverables (e.g. IT strategy and architecture, enterprise solutions, strategic sourcing, go-to-market strategies and risk management).

    Consultant / Senior Consultant:

    Consultants / Senior Consultants work as contributing members of a team, that strives to understand our client's business needs and their implication on technology strategies and directions. Consultants / Senior Consultants have deep knowledge and skills in at least one key technical area or service offering (e.g. IT strategy and architecture, enterprise solutions, strategic sourcing, go-to-market strategies and risk management).

    Associate Director:

    The Associate Director is viewed as a key resource in one or more technology areas. The Associate Director is expected to independently manage small to medium sized project teams, and is considered to be fully proficient in full delivery of one or more consulting service offerings (e.g. IT strategy and architecture, enterprise solutions, strategic sourcing, go-to-market strategies and risk management).
