This role is for a Gartner Analyst based in Europe to provide expertise to clients in the area of Hardware Asset Management (HAM). HAM refers to the management of hardware assets to ensure that equipment is used optimally, e.g. tracking equipment location, availability, lifecycle management. The role includes collaborative analysis around the integration of HAM with related disciplines in operations and infrastructure organizations. Typical topics of research include procurement practices, pricing, leasing, maintenance, disposal, accounting, tax, contract terms & conditions, depreciation practices, country variations and industry standards.

• Prepare thought-leading, actionable written research, working in a peer review structure.
• Support inquiries from clients.
• Speak at Gartner or other conferences as a subject-matter expert on hardware asset management and related topics.
• Be good at analysis - seeking out and piecing together fragments of information, extrapolating, building and applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing conclusions from partial data.
• Attend vendor briefings, vendor events, meetings with clients or exhibitions as required to further research.
• Assist other parts of Gartner when required, for example: sales support; support to Gartner?s separate consulting division.
• Travel within Europe and worldwide as required.

• 10+ years experience working within Hardware Asset Management (HAM) field Degree-level education
• Significant applicable experience to be knowledgeable about the topic area and be accepted by clients as an expert. This entails a deep understanding of HAM industry trends, vendors, products, user strategies and impact of adjacent disciplines on HAM.
• Relevant background in IT leasing, or as a reseller, or in a HAM-related role in a user IT department, or as a product manager for a vendor, or as a financial industry analyst with in-depth knowledge of HAM
• Excellent communicator; able to explain concepts concisely and simply through discussion, presentation and written research
• Credibility to represent Gartner research methodology and strategies effectively at a senior level
• Fluent English; other European languages would be an advantage.
