Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of IT Services for the financial services industry in EMEA: industry IT trends, issues, vendor activities and positions, regulatory activity, major product/services announcements, and vendor acquisitions and alliances. This is likely to cover the impact on financial services of topics such as:
    • Shared Services
    • ITO and BPO
    • Regulatory Compliance
    • Offshoring

    ...and Software Trends such as:

    • Business Process Management (BPM),
    • Web Services
    • Core Banking.
  • Maintain a high-level view of IT Services for all the vertical industries in EMEA: trends, issues, vendor activity, and major announcements.
  • Establish close working relationships with top 25 IT services/software providers in the financial services sector. This includes vendor briefings on IT services offered (outsourcing, solutions, etc.) and vendor analyst events.
  • Deliver research contentand recommendations aimed primarily at technology providers serving the financial services industry.
  • Collaborate with other Gartner analysts (e.g. in software) to publish cross-cluster reports on topics of mutual interest.
  • Collaboration will be especially important with the other financial services analysts (core and G2) across the banking, insurance and investments (capital markets) teams, both EMEA and globally.
  • Build PowerPoint presentations to deliver research findings and analyses at Gartner symposia and financial services industry conferences, IT Vendor events and panels. Write financial services research reports for GI clients that are informative, provocative, and actionable. Publish reports per deliverables plan and schedules. Also publish the (All Industries) Vertical Market Trends report for EMEA (a showcase for the trends behind the numbers in the EMEA forecasts).
  • Create and publish market forecasts for all the vertical industries and their sub-segments in each EMEA country (currently including 10 IT categories, 14 industries, 44 sub-segments, 26 countries, and over an 8 year period). Collaborate with GI colleagues in developing global forecasts for all industries.
  • Design and conduct financial services industry user and vendor surveys to develop useable data for research reports and market forecasts.
  • Field inquiries for Gartner clients, in 30-minute telephone sessions "GAMEC's.
  • Act as domain expert in sales calls to enroll new subscription clients for the GI cluster.
  • Qualify, develop and deliver SAS and Consulting engagements.
  • Identify research topics of greatest interest and value to Gartner GI clients and prospects, build research agenda to publish on those topics.
  • Develop relationships with the general and trade media, build frequency of mentions and quotes.
Qualifications:

  • Superior written and oral communications skills

  • Client service mentality
  • 5-10+ years as financial services industry IT practitioner or research analyst
  • Knowledgeable about financial services processes, solutions, IT vendors and their products/services
  • Able to work independently, but also skilled in collaborative project work
  • High energy level and intellectual curiosity
