Summary:

The central role of a Content Information Manager is to be part of a team that is responsible for keeping the Gartner's Knowledge Map (KMap) accurate and up-to-date. KMap is the central source for locating Gartner's intellectual capital. This specifically includes identification and tagging of resources, modifying and extending the taxonomy and thesaurus, and other "information professional" activities.

Responsibilities:

    As an individual:


  • Run the Knowledge Map applications and populate incoming documents from the publishing process with Knowledge Map nodes and metadata on assigned days.
  • Manage various sub-components of daily workflow and improvement projects.
  • Give instructional services to fellow Knowledge Map associates on special skills/talents that contributes to the knowledge base of the group.
  • As an team member:


  • Identify problems and propose solutions in design of taxonomy dimension, in particular issues of classification, organization, and access.
  • Develop and maintain Knowledge Map style guide to help ensure the quality and ease-of-use of the taxonomy dimension.
  • Ensure that Knowledge Map style guidelines are followed, interpreted, and modified as needed by participating in regularly scheduled Knowledge Map style meetings.
  • Implement all modifications to the Knowledge Map.
  • Capture, maintain, and distribute information on work processes and content identification.
  • Contribute expertise in indexing and tagging methods.
  • Participate in testing to ensure the usability of our applications during system changes.
  • Manage the functions of the Knowledge Map administration application to ensure that the structure and contents of the Knowledge Map are accurate, up-to-date, and useful. This includes adding, editing, and removing resources, thesaurus terms, other information types, and (to a limited extent) taxonomy nodes.
  • Monitor current documents for new IT terminology, collect data, and report findings to the group.
  • Work with the Knowledge Map Director and others to review and analyze feedback about Knowledge
  • Map and develop improvement plans.
  • Aid other departments in projects that utilize Knowledge Map functionality when needed.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree minimum, Masters in Library Science (MLS) preferred.
  • A mixture of IT, Business, Information or Knowledge Sciences work experience (Five Years).
  • This position requires knowledge and skills needed to make classification and relationship judgements.
