Summary:
This senior Gartner Analyst position within the Industries Research organisation requires candidates to have a broad range of skills including the ability to do thoughtful research and analysis, write clearly, support an active higher education sales team, present in front of large and small audiences, and have a high degree of comfort working with higher education executives including Boards of Trustees and CEOs, CIOs and other senior leaders.
A key component of the position is to develop futuristic complex and compelling scenarios for higher education within the framework of a coherent agenda supporting both the technology, academic and business needs of colleges and universities globally.

Responsibilities:
This is a senior research position and requires that the person be completely conversant with all aspects of higher education IT management including:
Administrative applications
Infrastructure
Academic support and applications
IT governance and strategic and tactical planning.
Collaborate with the Gartner higher education research group, to identify areas and topics of significant research interest and need in higher education, as well as write research and publish other appropriate materials.
Help Gartner higher education clients with a wide variety of technical and management issues and needs and understand regional and institutional classification differences and challenges.
Use familiarity with higher education research globally and higher education associations to support client inquiry, written research and creation and delivery of presentations dealing with IT, management and higher education business practices.
Help design survey instruments and analyze the data and present that data in written and verbal forums.

Qualifications:
- An advanced degree with a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, MD, JD etc.) preferred
- At least 7 years experience in a higher education institution as a senior member of the IT organization
- The candidate should have currency with higher education technologies and vendors and have experience evaluating and selecting technologies and vendors in an academic environment
- The candidate must be a conceptual thinker, able to work in an environment with multiple goals and be able to deliver with high quality and on time.
- Demonstrated ability to piece together fragments of information, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing and defending conclusions.
- Recognized industry strength and clout
- Experience as an academic desirable
- Excellence in research and writing skills
- Excellence in collaboration, public speaking, presentation creation and delivery
- Ideally the candidate will be viewed by higher education clients as a peer in the academic community and understand the technical and political climate of higher education institutions globally.
