Responsibilities:

    The post vacant is a second line support role in a rapidly growing company. The job will involve handling support calls in the European head offices and working within a team of 7 co-ordinated by the Help Desk Team Leader.

    Day to day support duties will be supplemented by project work managed by the Technical Project specialist, and European support trips.

    The job requires a generic problem solver rather than an expert in all fields however a thorough technical knowledge of computing is essential.

    Gartner Group is committed to training and many of the goals and objectives set at the start of each year will be based on personal development in both technical, communication, and managerial skills.

    The support team is a friendly place to work though the "witty" atmosphere will mean that the candidate will have to be thick skinned at times.

    Understanding of networking concepts; servers; LANs/WANs.

    Use of a call logging system (e.g. Peregrine, Quetzal, Helpdesk for Windows).

    Other Requirements

    The candidate should score 85% or above in the appended Gartner exam.

    Personal Description

    Gartner Group is looking for a well-rounded individual with experience outside of the computer industry. Preferably someone who did not take a computing degree or course, but probably another science subject, and then 'found' themselves in computing.

    A successful candidate will also understand the standard workings of a business. What to do if running late; in the case of sickness; or unexpected incident. (Generically, rather than GartnerGroup terms.) They should be presentable, and be able to converse in a relaxed but informed manner.

    The ability to create procedures in also of importance to this role.
