Summary:

The Manufacturing Research Director (EMEA) represents Gartner's research and analysis business in EMEA.

Responsibilities:

  • The Manufacturing Research Director will conduct EMEA specific research projects, write EMEA specific research papers, and prepare EMEA specific presentations on manufacturing topics including customer, relationship management, manufacturing execution systems, product lifecycle management systems, supply chain planning and execution systems, and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • In addition, depending on the industry background of the individual, they may serve as a global resource to provide segment specific coverage within the manufacturing vertical area.
  • The Manufacturing Research Director will support EMEA sales activities for the manufacturing vertical product. The Manufacturing Research Director will be part of a global team of analysts covering the entire manufacturing segment.
Qualifications:

  • This position requires business management experience in the manufacturing industry, specifically experience in Consumer Goods, Life Sciences, Automotive or Oil & Gas industries is preferred.
  • Experience should include the application of information technology to the interfacing of the respective manufacturing business to the outside world. For example, supply chain management system implementation, e-business implementation, e-marketplace participation, customer-relationship management or sharing of plant and inventory data with other external participants in the manufacturing process, including customers and distribution channels.
  • Examples of desired past experiences and responsibilities of preferred candidates include "head of e-business strategy", "director of digitization" or "head of supply chain management" in an appropriate manufacturing environment. This position requires experience in defining business benefits and achieving them as opposed to IT operational experience.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience within the relevant industry in areas interfacing with information technology, running of a manufacturing technology department or as a product manager for a vendor, or as a manufacturing industry analyst with knowledge of a specific technology.
  • Significant applicable experience to be knowledgeable about the area(s) of expertise and to be accepted by clients as an expert or "guru". Knowledge typically entails both an understanding of a technology as sell as the industry and market, vendors, products and users.
  • Demonstrated ability to piece together fragments of information, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing and defending conclusions In-depth expertise in manufacturing technologies and technology-related issues such as CPFR, RFID, SCM and PLM.
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment yet be a self-starter capable of working independently
