Responsibilities:
- The position combines the need to prepare deliverable products (with their research component) in accordance with a schedule as well as responding to client inquiry/CED requests which can not be planned for, as well as balancing conference presentation requirements.
- Define and conduct ongoing research and analysis either in a specific or multiple areas of expertise
- Perform research by reading, networking with clients, vendors and analysts, evaluating and analyzing information and participating in Research Meetings and other activities which comprise the Gartner research process
- Produce industry/role-specific research as necessary
- Add value to the research by analysis (which may include triangulation, pattern recognition and application of experience)
- Create specified volumes of written documentation of research (e. g. Research Notes, Strategic Analysis Reports, Flashes, etc.) in fulfillment of our commitment to clients.
- Create materials for and deliver face-to-face, teleconferenced and taped presentations to clients.
- Visit client/prospects with sales for identification of opportunities
- Provide individualized consulting for clients, which involves presentations regarding Gartner research and findings to individual companies or providing advice to a user or vendor client for a day or two
- Provide sales support by speaking to prospective and existing clients via telephone, by making face-to face sales calls with sales personnel and by delivering speeches at Prospective client seminars
- Recruit, manage, motivate and mentor direct reports
- Determine specific subjects to research and present and develop accompanying deliverables and presentations
- Ensure integrity of research and analysis of self and direct reports

Qualifications:
- 15+ years experience
- Experience in re-engineering and maturing IT operational processes including incident/problem, change, configuration, availability, predictive monitoring, performance and capacity management.
- Beyond knowledge in the area of expertise, the individual must be good at analysis - seeking out and piecing together fragments of information, extrapolating, building and applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing conclusions from partial data. Experienced in defining end-to-end IT services and service-level agreements, and managing their successful delivery.
- Experienced in defining IT operations architecture including process flows, integration and use of tools.
- Experienced in IT infrastructure/operations organizational design and people performance metrics.
- Experienced in defining process integration between IT operations and other parts of the business, including business process owners, application development and IT architecture.
- Experienced in use and selection of IT operations tools and how they enable process automation.
- Experienced in performing and/or approving ROI analyses on process engineering and tools acquisitions.
- Experienced in managing tools vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
