Gartner Announces Winner of the Master Data Management Excellence AwardSTAMFORD, Conn., October 12, 2009 — Gartner, Inc. announced that Kraft Foods Inc. is the winner of the 2009 Gartner Master Data Management (MDM) Excellence Award. The three finalists for the award were Kraft Foods Inc., BP and Merck & Co. The finalists presented their MDM case studies to conference attendees at the Gartner Master Data Management Summit in Los Angeles and participants then voted on which of the finalists demonstrated the best example of MDM excellence and the winner was selected. “MDM is increasingly accepted as a key, unifying, initiative that enables organizations to meet their objectives in running, growing and transforming their businesses,” said Andrew White, Gartner research vice president and research co-chair of the Summit. “These case studies are great examples of the best practices needed to pursue successful MDM objectives.” Enterprises submitted entries formulated within Gartner’s Seven Building Blocks of MDMframework to describe their MDM initiatives and why it demonstrates business excellence. A team of Gartner analysts evaluated and selected three finalists from all those submitted, based on the Seven Building Blocks of MDM, a strategic framework developed by Gartner to help companies maximize the probability of success.
