Conference Track Descriptions

Track A: Web 2.0 and Beyond
Web 2.0 has become one of the most hyped terms in IT.  Amongst the hype, however, are significant advances.  While many focus on the technologies of Web 2.0, the community and participative aspects of Web 2.0 and its impact on social and business models may be more important.  And Web 2.0 is not the end point-advances in the semantic Web and virtual worlds provide a glimpse into the future of the Web.

Track B: The Web in the Enterprise
The Web has seen significant adoption in the enterprise, from intranet Web sites to B2C portals to the primary user interface for business applications.  Many aspects of the Web have become part of the woodwork of IT, but others are not so commonplace, like managing multi-national, multi-lingual sites.  Advances in Web architecture now provide relatively easy interoperability models and the ability to create mashups in an afternoon.  Enterprises must understand these aspects of the Web to deploy and support new innovative Web-based solutions.

Track C: Social & Business Implications of the New Web
The new world of the Web, with its focus on the participation of the masses, has introduced some interesting social challenges and business opportunities.  Digital natives, those who grew up in the era of the Web, have different behaviors and expectations than the digital immigrants who pre-date them.  The Web has become an integral part of the personal lives of many, and enterprises must understand this in order to provide goods and services and appropriate interaction channels.  These new social behaviors, coupled with the power of the technologies and methodologies of Web 2.0, provide significant new business opportunities, and completely new business models.
