  • 19  May  2008
  • 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM  EST

Business process management (BPM) is a popular idea in the public sector, often thought of as being necessary for success in process re-engineering and integration efforts, especially across organizational boundaries. In addition to its association with previous process re-engineering efforts, BPM has been confused with simple workflow automation. However, there are inherent challenges in applying BPM comprehensively in government, few of which relate to the technological aspects. We will explore the realities of taking a comprehensive approach to BPM in a government organization.

Topics Discussed

Gartner analysts discussed with participants the following topics:

    • What major drivers are influencing interest in BPM in government?

    • What are key BPM opportunities and challenges for government?

    • What actions should government business and IT leaders take to optimize the use of BPM?
