In his role as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO), Darko Hrelic leads the Strategic Technology Group in ensuring that Gartner fully leverages the capabilities of technology to deliver exceptional value to clients, and further develops its technical infrastructure to support long-term corporate growth objectives.
Darko Joined Gartner in January 2007 from ADP, where he led all aspects of ADP's technical Strategy, Architecture and Technology as VP & CTO of Employer Services. He played an instrumental role in driving the SOA vision & strategy, making legacy systems on-demand SOA capable, definition and implementation of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) based on a loosely coupled integration architecture, common hosting platform & infrastructure, automated software provisioning and deployment, incubation-based software development process, enterprise SOA standardization and governance board and others.
Prior to joining ADP, Darko spent over 21 years at IBM, most of which were at the world renown TJ Watson Research Center, working in areas such as videotext, high speed communications, electronic commerce and others. He also helped form the IBM Internet Division in mid-90's, where he spearheaded the technical strategy for eCommerce - aka "eBusiness". In year 2000, Darko was also a key technical driver in helping found e2open.com, a high tech industry electronic marketplace consortium startup.
Darko holds a Master of Science in Computer Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ.

Born in Birmingham on 28 October 1955, he won a major scholarship to Bromsgrove School and gained honours in Law at University College, London. After a spell with the Royal Navy, he joined corporate law firm Edge & Ellison in 1978, making partner in 1984. He specialised in corporate finance and he was responsible for developing the firm's London presence and establishing its reputation overseas, becoming Senior Partner in 1995. Three years later saw a move to KPMG becoming Vice-Chairman of Corporate finance.
He became Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry on 1 January 2000 to serve a five-year non-renewable term of office. In September 2003 this was extended at the request of CBI members to seven years. In this role he regularly visited businesses around the UK and travelled to over 60 countries promoting British business abroad.
He was appointed a Knight Bachelor in the 2005 New Year Honours List, and later granted a life peerage to enable him to become a member of Gordon Brown's government.
Lord Jones frequently appears on television and radio programmes as well as in print, promoting the interests of wealth creation in the UK. He has numerous business interests and also campaigns tirelessly for charities. He is married to Pat, has homes in London and Warwickshire, and his many interests include football, skiing, rugby, running, cricket and military history.
