Gartner, Inc. today named Medway Youth Trust as the winner of its 2012 Business Intelligence (BI) Excellence Award in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The award, which recognizes the organization that has most clearly demonstrated excellence in its BI, analytics and performance management initiatives, was presented at the Gartner Business Intelligence Summit 2012, held in London from 6 to 7 February.
The Gartner BI Excellence Award 2012 attracted submissions from more than 50 organizations in more than 17 countries across EMEA. The three finalists selected by Gartner — MAPFRE Medway Youth Trust and Transport for London — each presented their case studies, which outlined the challenges they faced and overcame, and the outcome of their BI, analytics and performance management initiatives, to more than 1,100 attendees who voted to select the winner of this year's award.
"We were truly impressed with the number and quality of the nominations we received, which reflects the growing impact BI and analytics initiatives are having in many organizations," said James Richardson, research director at Gartner. "Medway Youth Trust stood out as an organization that, with very limited resources, has effectively applied advanced predictive analytics to transform decision making and make a difference to society."
Graham Clewes, chief executive at Medway Youth Trust, said "I am delighted to accept this prestigious Gartner award for BI excellence. Medway Youth Trust is a charity dedicated to improving young people's life chances, and keeping young people engaged in employment, learning or training has never been more critical. Using our data as intelligence means we are using our resources more efficiently and changing lives."
Gartner's BI Excellence Award recognises outstanding BI, analytics and performance management initiatives, based on how successfully organizations have embraced the components of Gartner's BI and performance management (PM) framework — which is helping organizations optimize the value of BI, analytics and PM initiatives.
