The telecommunications industry, for example, faced a sudden and massive disruption in arguably the world's most communicative community, New York City. So, what have network service providers and enterprises learned about strengthening the resilience of that essential network lifeline? The property and casualty industry now confronts potentially huge insurance claims due to tremendous losses of life and property. The transportation industry must walk a tightrope to cope with new and increased demands to make travel and the transport of goods safer while still offering an opportunity to achieve profitability. These industries, and others, are still sifting through the changes that are arising out of Sept. 11.
