Award-winning Case Studies to be Discussed on Gartner Analyst Panel at Inaugural Gartner Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit in Las Vegas, April 3-5 2006

STAMFORD, Conn., February 14, 2006 — Gartner, Inc. is accepting nominations for its first annual High Performance Workplace (HPW) Excellence Awards. Nominations will be accepted via an online entry form for any end-user organization which has exhibited excellence in the application of new technologies which enhance the high performance workplace. Nominations will be accepted through March 1, 2006.

"High performance workplaces are business driven, employee and team-centered," said Tom Austin, group vice president and Gartner Fellow. "They drive innovation, creativity, collaboration, transformational change and organizational learning across the business ecosystem. The HPW Excellence Awards honor those companies that have shown leadership in recognizing the power and potential of the high performance workplace and are dedicated to promoting excellence and innovation in workplace management and technology."

Gartner analysts will recognize and discuss the award-winning cases during a panel discussion at the inaugural Gartner Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit in Las Vegas, April 3-5, 2006. The honorees will receive their awards at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2006 in San Francisco, May 14-18.

The four categories of the HPW Excellence Awards are:
  • Business Innovation — The business innovation award recognizes the smartest workplace investments (organizational, physical, technical, operational, and others.) that resulted in people creating new competitive advantages for their enterprise.
  • Culture Change — The culture change award honors those who effected significant culture change that dramatically improved their business.
  • Narrow, Fast and High Impact — This award honors projects that combine great linkage to specific, board-level strategic initiatives, narrowly defined user groups, clearly defined, specific objectives, such as helping find and evaluate acquisition candidates and a quickly achieved, high return on investment.
  • People-Centered Solutions — The people-centered award recognizes organizations that improved their competitive position by improving their focus on their people.

A team of Gartner analysts will evaluate and rate each entry. Some of the key factors participants will be judged on are clarity of initial objectives and metrics, innovation, cultural sensitivity and focus, inclusiveness, synergy and generality.
