First Two Available for "Security and Risk Management" and "Infrastructure and Operations" IT Leaders

STAMFORD, Conn., March 8, 2006 —Gartner, Inc. announces its latest offering: "Gartner for IT Leaders," which aligns a client's specific job-related challenges with the appropriate Gartner analysts and insight, and connects clients to IT peers who share common business and technology issues.

"Gartner for IT Leaders makes our research easier for clients to use in the context of how they work in their specific roles," said Dale Kutnick, senior vice president and director of research at Gartner. "These offerings will provide our clients with the contextualized, actionable content and technology-related insight necessary for them to make the right decisions, every day."

The first two Gartner for IT Leaders offerings are "Security and Risk Management" and "Infrastructure and Operations." Clients will access unique gartner.com home pages, by functional/role area, which will serve as gateways to a role-specific site. Content on these sites will include: Introduction to the role, organizational structures, activity cycles, exclusive blogs, polling, hot picks, frequently asked questions (FAQs) and "most relevant" research mapped on subsequent pages, grouped by activity cycle phases.

Clients of Gartner for IT Leaders will gain access to:
  • Community. A vibrant online community adds insight and experience from both Gartner analysts and IT peers who share common interests related to the client's specific role.
  • Vendor and Product Ratings. IT leaders have a credible partner at their side to help them identify, evaluate and select vendor solutions that meet their needs. Gartner also provides actionable advice from industry experts in vendor negotiation and vendor portfolio management.
  • News and Analysis. Timely analysis of breaking news related to specific technology roles, coupled with Gartner expert insight, keeps IT leaders ahead of the curve.
  • Actionable Tools. Clients can exploit predictive tools, frameworks, how-to guides and presentation templates that add confidence to their decisions.
  • How to Succeed in Your Role. Clients of Gartner for IT Leaders are fully armed with the insight, advice and confidence they need to maximize contributions to their organizations.
The Security and Risk Management offering is targeted to IT leaders in segments such as security, risk, privacy and data protection, compliance, application security, data security, Web security and network security.

"With this offering, we help IT security leaders fit their activities into the corporate strategy, enabling them to better set priorities and effectively communicate their long-term objectives and value with both business management and the IT technical staff," Mr. Kutnick said. "Security professionals will be provided with the knowledge to protect business assets, comply with regulatory requirements and better manage resources."

The Infrastructure and Operations offering is targeted for IT leaders in segments such as infrastructure and operations, networks, telecommunications, business continuity/disaster planning, asset management and data center.

"This offering will help infrastructure and operations managers keep IT highly available, reliable and secure, while evolving supporting architecture to one that is agile and responsive to rapid business change," Mr. Kutnick said. "We are helping these professionals maintain costs while improving internal processes and performance, better manage resources and align IT with business goals."

Later this year, Gartner will release six additional role-based offerings in IT areas: Business Intelligence and Information Management; Sourcing and Vendor Relationships; Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Analysis and Planning; Application Management, and Program and Project Management. In 2007, Gartner will offer role-based access and products designed specifically for technology and service providers.

"Gartner for IT Leaders provides clients with indispensable job-related insight and resources when they need it most, in the format that works best for them," Mr. Kutnick said. "The peer networks, research, analyst interaction and how-to-tools equip these professionals with the knowledge necessary for them to succeed."
