STAMFORD, CONN., February 10, 2003 — Best-selling author Tom Clancy and former Director of Central Intelligence, Admiral Stansfield Turner, will keynote at the Gartner IT Security Summit 2003, June 2 — 4, in Washington, D.C.

Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) has combined two of its most powerful security conferences to create Gartner IT Security Summit. The combination of Gartner's established Enterprise IT Security Conference and the SECTOR 5 Summit on cyberterrorism and critical-infrastructure protection creates one authoritative event to fully address the concerns and priorities of IT security executives from Fortune 2000 businesses, the federal government and the nation's critical-infrastructure entities.

On Monday, June 2, Clancy will be featured in a discussion along with leading Gartner analysts, providing his unique perspectives and intelligence on the pressing concerns about national security and the intersection of technology with the expanding scope of threats facing the United States. This is the first such forum at which Clancy has ever accepted an invitation to speak. On Wednesday, June 4, Turner will share his perspectives on national and homeland security, modern warfare, terrorism and information gathering.

"During the past year, safeguarding information assets and protecting the integrity of the systems and computing infrastructures that are vital to business and society have become more challenging and crucial," said Victor Wheatman, vice president and research area director for Gartner. "Gartner's IT Security Summit will bring the top security experts from global industries and governments together with Gartner's objective thought leadership."

The three-day summit will explore critical issues, best practices and case studies through panel discussions with top experts from the private and public sectors. Also included will be breakout sessions tailored to the critical infrastructure sectors such as transportation; energy, utilities and water; banking and financial services; telecommunications and information services; and vital health, safety and emergency services.

The Enterprise IT Security and SECTOR 5 programs will run concurrently, offering morning keynotes and top-level content for the general audience, followed by breakout sessions in the afternoons geared to topics on a more detailed level. Attendees may register for either conference exclusively or for a variety of combination packages.

Gartner's IT Security Summit will take place June 2 — 4, 2003, in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton. For more information or to register for the conference, please visit
