STAMFORD, CONN., December 2, 2003 — Registration for Gartner, Inc.'s upcoming Data Center conference has surpassed 1,100 registered attendees, a 33 percent increase from last year.

Gartner attributes the success of the conference to the relevance of the robust agenda.

"Each year, Gartner tailors the agenda of the Data Center conference to address the key concerns of attendees, based on client feedback and input from attending data center managers," said Patty Foggin, vice president of worldwide events for Gartner. "This year the conference has been designed to help attendees achieve the most scalable, cost-effective and reliable data centers that can manage the challenges of a real-time infrastructure. That is what our attendees who return each year have told us is most critical to the success of their businesses."

A few of the key issues Gartner analysts will focus on include security and disaster recovery, running a 24x7 operation effectively, server consolidation, storage infrastructure design and outsourcing.

"Executives are still under cost pressures, and they find that they must architect an on-demand infrastructure to meet the business needs of availability, performance, agility, security and business continuity without breaking the bank," said Mike Chuba, research vice president for Gartner. "Cost containment is now more important than simple cost reduction. The Gartner conference attendees want guidance on how to spend wisely and want to invest in critical products and applications that will give them a leg up on their competition as the industry moves into an improved economic environment."

In addition to Gartner analyst presentations,
Gen. Barry McCaffrey, NBC News commentator and an expert on the war on terrorism, will address attendees as the keynote speaker. The conference will also feature customer case studies presented by leading-edge enterprises.

The Gartner Data Center 2003 conference will be held at the Rio Hotel and Casino. For more information or to register for this conference, please visit
