Cannes, France, 4th November 2003 — Gartner announced today that Barcelona will be the new location for its 5th annual European Spring Symposium/ITxpo 2004. Originally launched in Florence in 2000, it will relocate to Barcelona to meet delegate demands of a more accessible location that pairs business-travel convenience with rich local culture.

"Over 90% of surveyed participants have overwhelmingly voted Barcelona as the most desirable location for a Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. Barcelona is a highly accessible city, with the venue, Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, conveniently located only ten minutes away from the airport," said Alister Christopher, senior vice president, Gartner Events.

European Spring Symposium/ITxpo in Barcelona will deliver 60 hard-hitting sessions over three days. It will offer senior IT and business executives the collective insight of Gartner's research, as well as allow them to meet privately with Gartner analysts. Symposium is the place to gain valuable insight from the industry's thought leaders, network and benchmark with peers and identify the right solution providers.

Symposium/ITxpo in Barcelona is expected to attract 20% more delegates because of the re-location to Barcelona. Over 1200 delegates and 25 solution providers from over 20 countries are expected. According to Lisa Cerullo-Riley, senior director, Gartner Events, "We believe that the move to Barcelona will be valuable for both our delegates and our exhibit partners. The venue boasts a more conducive floorplan that allows both delegates and exhibit partners to interact more easily throughout the 3-day event. We look forward to releasing exciting announcements in the coming months as we secure keynotes, exhibit partners and develop an agenda that reflects the needs of our Symposium community."
