Every enterprise has to manage the identities of its workforce, partners, customers and so on, and the access that they get to systems, data and other assets. Guest Keynote: The Spectrum of Identity & the Nature of Personal Data

12 March, 2012 (16:45 - 17:30)

What is Identity? Kailya will share her answer to this question and outline the spectrum of identity the diverse range of identity expressions in-between anonymity and strong verification. Understanding the full spectrum of identity and how different types of identities have different characteristics and appropriate uses will give new insight into managing the identities of customers/citizens in an increasingly digital world. The 2nd half of her talk will touch on another emerging trend is the grown of "big data" but a key fact is often forgotten - most of it is data generated by people as they live their lives…leaving digital breadcrumbs behind. As yet citizens don't' have a way to collect, store and get value out of their data but a new wave of startups is experimenting with this and major enterprises are also considering how they play in the emerging personal data ecosystem.

Gartner Keynote: Good Morning, Dave! User Authentication: Dead or Alive?

12 March, 2012 (17:30 - 18:15)

Authentication is widely accepted as a necessary control, without which other IAM efforts around authorization and accountability would be futile. But authentication is expensive to implement, it's hard to use, it's too easy to subvert or circumvent. What's more frequent and spectacular failures call the value of authentication into question. This panel discusses an emerging alternative set of technologies.

Guest Keynote: The Age of Participation - Identity, Connection, and the Human Factor

13 March, 2012 (15:30 - 16:15)

This is the Age of Participation: the technology and the culture of the digital world engenders a blurring of the lines at the periphery of organisations. Stakeholders increasingly assume greater access to and input into the workings of the institutions with which they deal. It's impossible for any such institution in this situation to avoid projecting an identity, and those which are set up to enable a multi-directional flow of information can present not just a human face but an authentic connection. Those which are not not only miss out on the benefits of participation, they also run the risk of creating angry and deindividuated enemies - whether that means losing a client or triggering the London riots. We have to understand our actions not just in a business or instrumental context, but a wider one. In making decisions about technology on a large scale, we're building our environment: social, psychological, commercial, legislative. The structures we create now will probably last - as more and more other structures are built on top of them, they will get locked in. So they have to be good ones. What we do now will define a generation of social shapes and political discussions (and, alas, problems). We must understand the interaction of technology, individual, and society and make our choices intelligently

Gartner Closing Keynote: IAM Going Mental: Six Things IAM Leaders can Learn From Master Mentalists

13 March, 2012 (16:15 - 17:15)

Derren Brown is known for his uncanny ability to influence others and to use observational skills to tell what people are thinking and the actions they are likely to perform.
