Gartner Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit

Tom Austin, vice president, has been a Gartner fellow since 1997. He drives Gartner's research content incubator (the Maverick Program). Mr. Austin has been chief of research for social software, collaboration, communications, information management, business intelligence and high-performance workplace (HPW) research. Today, collaboration, social process support, cloud-based application services (such as Google vs. Microsoft) and Enterprise 2.0 are some of his specialties. His scope is broad - i.e., he is leading the new People-Centered Computing Research Community, working to carve out a new, integrative Key Initiative around business strategies and technologies that enable or enhance the contribution of high-impact individuals and teams, particularly as they perform key, business-critical behaviors, such as discovery, innovation, teaming, leading, learning and relating to one another.

Ian Black joined Autonomy in June 2000 as Director of Corporate Communications. Prior to joining Autonomy Ian operated a number of his own businesses providing communications consultancy to a distinguished list of multi-nationals and European government agencies. After joining British Aerospace - latterly BAE SYSTEMS - in 1989 and as Head of Corporate Communications, Ian achieved a string of world 'firsts' including deployment of the world's first live business television system. Throughout the 90's Ian's work earned over a dozen awards as part of BAE's top-120 group driving cultural change throughout the company.

Alessandro Caruso, Aeronautical Engineer, had 10 years of experience in Consulting with Accenture. He joined Autogrill S.p.A. in 2005 covering different positions within the ICT department up to his current role of ICT Account & Project Portfolio Manager. He is responsible for ICT internal client relationship management and for any ICT requests, development or innovation needed. Alessandro Caruso leads a Project Management Team, following all ICT Projects from the initial “Idea” phase up to the “Transition to Service” phase, turning internal client requirements into projects and meeting their expectations.

Kenneth Chin is a research vice president in Gartner Research covering enterprise content management. He is the lead analyst covering information retention management and archiving technologies. He also covers a variety of content management topics, including product selection, implementation and best practices.

Mark Cortner is a senior analyst with Gartner IT Professionals Research. Mr. Cortner provides in-depth research and analysis of real-time and unified communications applications and services. The topics he currently focuses on include voice over IP, unified messaging, video-based communications and collaboration, presence, mobile unified comunications, and network-based digital media technologies.

David Cotterill is Head of Innovation at the UK Department for Work and Pensions. With a background in Programme Management, IT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture, he is now focused on unlocking innovation in large organisations. His team lead on a number of programmes across UK government using the power of networks and game design to bring about social change. Prior to joining the public sector, he had a number of international roles with IBM and Navision Software. David has an MA from Cambridge University.

Guy Creese is a vice president and research director for Gartner Research, in Burton Group's Collaboration and Content Strategies service. He covers a range of topics at the intersection of collaboration, content management, and communications. Technologies covered include content management, productivity suites, Microsoft SharePoint, content globalization, and Web analytics.

Nikos Drakos, Ph.D., is a research director in Gartner Research, covering social software and collaboration.

Mark Gilbert is a research vice president at Gartner. Mr. Gilbert is lead analyst on Microsoft SharePoint and covers content management, document management, document imaging and records management technologies.

In 1994, Michael Hadrian began his career at Fabasoft in software development and quality control. He soon became head of the international technical support department and moved on to key accounting in Switzerland two years later. After returning to Austria, Michael conducted various document management customer projects as project manager and consultant over the course of five years. Today, Michael Hadrian is Managing Director at Fabasoft and responsible for project management and sales in the private sector. “The professional document and business process management is just as important as an efficient ERP system”, Michael is convinced. “In this area, essential optimisation potential still lies idle in many companies.”

Nick Jones is a vice president and Gartner distinguished analyst. Mr. Jones' research focuses primarily on mobile business, mobile technology, mobile applications and emerging technologies. His research coverage includes business-to-employee (B2E) and business-to-consumer (B2C) mobility; mobile commerce and payments; machine-to-machine (M2M) applications and technology; wireless technology; the impact of emerging technologies on mobility; and mobile application development. His research interests also include emerging trends/technologies, technology road mapping, and the social impact of technology.

Rebekka Keough is Senior Innovation Manager in the Innovation Department at Bankinter where she focuses on developing new digital channels and business opportunities. Rebekka's responsibilities also include identifying innovation trends and best practices inside and outside the financial services sector. A Canadian citizen and resident of Spain, Rebekka previously worked as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company (Toronto and Madrid). Bankinter is the sixth largest bank in Spain and was named “2010 Bank of the Year in Spain” by the prestigious magazine The Banker.

With a multidisciplinary background of Digital Communications, Fine Art and a healthy technological obsession, Tyler led the development and implementation of the Virtual G-20 Secretariat in 2010 and continues to be at the forefront of digital multilateral collaboration and negotiation. His team of strategists at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada have worked with international organizations and projects like the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Canada-Mexico Partnership as well as other Canadian Federal Government Departments to help further their online collaboration efforts.

Debra Logan is a vice president and distinguished analyst in Gartner Research. She covers information governance, e-discovery, legacy information management and strategic information management, along with new and emerging roles in the digital economy. She is currently working on topics including information archiving, information retention management, strategic information management and e-discovery market trends.

Mick MacComascaigh is a Research VP with Gartner and the lead analyst for Web content management and online channel optimization. He is responsible for IT leaders for enterprise content management (ECM) in Germany.

Andy MacMillan is Vice President of Product Management for Oracle WebCenter where he is responsible for the go-to-market strategy for Oracle's comprehensive portal and enterprise content management products. Mr MacMillan joined Oracle through the acquisition of Stellent, Inc., where he was the Vice President of Product Marketing. Prior to Stellent he was a consultant at EDS, designing and delivering enterprise web applications, primarily for General Motors. Mr MacMillan holds a bachelor of arts degree in information technology management from Michigan State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland).

Jeffrey Mann is a research vice president for collaboration and social software at Gartner Research. Mr. Mann focuses on social software, team workspaces, the collaboration market, cloud-based collaboration platforms and user adoption.

Pete Marsh joined Atex in August 2005. He is responsible for overseeing the global product management and technology roadmaps for all Atex advertising, content management, audience, Web CMS and tablet products. He is also chief strategist for the Atex DNA architecture and the OneView user interface framework. In 1992, Pete founded Deadline Data Systems, provider of newsroom and advertising systems for the newspaper and magazine industry. Deadline Data also pioneered the development of plug-in software applications to integrate enterprise publishing systems with desktop applications such as QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign. Before joining Atex, Peter was the CEO and president of 5 Fifteen Inc. He has also held senior management positions at EBSCO Publishing, Xenotron, and ECRM. Peter holds a B.Sc. from Boston University, with a Summa Cum Laude degree in Journalism and Communications. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and his articles appear in numerous media publications. Peter lives in Topsfield Massachusetts and is a member of the Samaritans Board of Directors, a non-profit organization dedicated to suicide prevention.

Jim Murphy is a research director in Gartner's Web and Cloud group, concentrating on portals and mashups. Mr. Murphy advises clients on effective strategies for portals, mashups, and related areas like content management, collaboration, and search.

Gene Phifer is a managing vice president in Gartner Research. Mr. Phifer covers a broad set of Web and cloud-centric technologies, including Web architecture, intranets, extranets, e-business, portals, rich Internet applications, Web applications, cloud computing and software as a service. Additional concepts covered include SOA, WOA, governance and management of infrastructure resources.

Daryl Plummer is a managing vice president, chief of Research and chief Gartner Fellow. He is chief of research for cloud computing and a primary analyst covering multiple cloud topics, business process management, SOA and Web technologies. Mr. Plummer manages the Gartner Fellows Program, which is designed to allow senior analysts the opportunity to explore new research ideas and to elevate the Gartner culture and brand with clients. He is also chief of Research for emerging trends and interacts with clients on topics ranging from application development to enterprise architecture.

Matt Ridley argues that human beings’ ability to connect, collaborate and co-operate gives our species an often underestimated capacity for change and social progress. His latest book, The Rational Optimist (2010), was long listed the FT’s Business Book of the Year. Matt takes on contemporary pessimism to argue that, in spite of disasters and reverses, the world has been getting better and better for humanity over the last two centuries, and that our quality of life and material wealth will continue to increase in the 21st century. In our lifetime, per capita income has trebled, lifespan has increased by one third and child mortality has fallen by two thirds. At TEDGlobal 2010, Matt showed how, throughout history, the engine of human progress has been the meeting and mating of ideas to make new ideas. It’s not important how clever individuals are, he argues; what really matters is how smart the collective brain is. Innovation comes from people and human exchange, not from government policy or elite diktats.

Craig Roth is a vice president and service director for Gartner Research, in Burton Group's Collaboration and Content Strategies service. Mr. Roth covers a wide range of knowledge and Web-related topics at the intersection of collaboration, content management, and communication. Technologies covered include enterprise portals, Microsoft SharePoint, content globalization, and attention management (information overload). He also covers executive issues around these topics, specializing in governance and business cases.

Carol Rozwell is a vice president and distinguished analyst on Gartner's Content, Collaboration and Social team. Ms. Rozwell explores social business strategy, including social media, social networks and collaborative communities. Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Rozwell focused her research on technology and standards for R&D productivity in the pharmaceutical industry. She joined Gartner during the e-business frenzy and helped clients electrify their business processes. She brings to her role extensive practical experience as an implementer of buy-side and sell-side e-commerce systems that is augmented by positions in marketing, consulting and strategic alliance management.

Edmund (Ed) Thompson is a vice president and distinguished analyst in Gartner Research. His research focuses on CRM, and he is the research leader for the CRM Strategy and Implementation and Customer Experience Management topics. He researches CRM strategy, implementation, CRM service providers, customer experience and SAP CRM, and more generally covers CRM in Europe.
