Workshop: How to Build a Portal Strategy and Plan a Portal Project (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
28 November, 2011 (03:15 PM - 04:45 PM)
Most portal failures stem from faulty governance, lack of agility, and poor usability. Recent technology and work trends change how portals must be governed and managed. In this workshop, we will work together to devise:
Workshop: Developing a Platform-as-a-Service Strategy for Your Enterprise (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
28 November, 2011 (05:00 PM - 06:30 PM)
Use of private or public cloud computing are being considered in many new IT projects, but the experience of choosing the right architecture and the fitting technology providers is often lacking. Many projects are developing their cloud-based solutions for the first time based on the limited understanding of the challenges and requirements of the field. Platform as a service (PaaS) is the cloud equivalent of a combination of at least an application server and dedicated application development tools. The choice of PaaS will influence project’s architecture, scope, costs, time-to-results and required skills. At this workshop the attendees will develop a framework for selecting a PaaS provider for a moderate, but real enterprise software project. Armed with the framework, they will be able to systematically evaluate and select a PaaS provider for their next cloud-based software project.
Workshop: Implementing DevOps (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
29 November, 2011 (10:15 AM - 12:15 PM)
Release management comes in many different flavors, from manual processes to the complete automation of DevOps practices. In this workshop we'll help you figure out where you are on this spectrum. We'll discuss some hurdles that you'll face and some best practices that will help you get to where you want to go. This workshop is appropriate for those engaged in either agile or waterfall build and release processes from either a developer or operations perspective.
Workshop: Crafting a Cloud Computing Strategy (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
29 November, 2011 (02:15 PM - 03:15 PM)
In examining how to adopt cloud computing, an organization needs a framework for how to approach planning. Cloud services come in many different flavors and support different outcomes. This workshop explains how to match outcomes with the level of cloud service and describes multiple paths to success or failure.
Workshop: Getting Started With Pace Layers (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
30 November, 2011 (08:30 AM - 10:00 AM)
In 2010, Gartner introduced the pace layered application strategy framework: an approach that segments the application portfolio based on business value and rate of change. This workshop introduces the concept and takes attendees through exercises designed to begin the process of implementing pace layers.
Workshop: Adopting Agile (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
30 November, 2011 (02:00 PM - 04:00 PM)
Agile, and particularly Scrum, adoption abounds. But textbook Scrum isn't a fit for many organizations. As they tailor and scale the process to fit their needs, they face many questions for which the answers lie only in the vaulted mind of the experienced practitioner. Workshop participants will collaborate to discuss:
Workshop: Best Practices for B2B E-Commerce and Cloud Integration (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
01 December, 2011 (08:30 AM - 10:30 AM)
Many companies need to modernize their approach to B2B integration to sufficiently address B2B ecommerce requirements -- e.g., 100% trading partner integration and process analytics -- and Cloud computing integration requirements -- e.g., integrating data and processes between SaaS and on-premise applications. In this workshop attendees will collaborate to assess B2B integration strategy and requirements, evaluate different B2B integration solutions, and develop a decision framework for choosing between them.
Workshop: Building Better Business Cases for Applications (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
01 December, 2011 (08:30 AM - 10:00 AM)
The Investment Management Process should use the business case as the primary document where costs, risks and benefits associated with investments can be thoroughly investigated. Unfortunately too many business cases are poorly prepared and this leads to sub-optimal investment decisions.

01 December, 2011 (12:30 PM - 02:30 PM)
Adoption of social computing is not rocket science, but does require involvement of key stakeholders, identification and management of risks, and change management. This workshop focuses on how to leverage the power of social software and the intelligence of the collective.
Workshop: SOA - Good to Great (Pre-registration required. For End Users Only.)
01 December, 2011 (12:30 PM - 02:30 PM)
Gartner clients that have moved from delivering ‘fair to middling’ SOA results to great outcomes demonstrate that moving forward on organization, governance, metrics, service models, infrastructure, processes, and standards workstreams together is challenging but required. Using case studies from successful companies, you will work collaboratively to:
