Workshop: National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace: What NSTIC Means to Business (For End Users Only. Pre-Registration Required. Limit 2 per attendee. Registration will open on June 17th.)

30 July, 2013 (08:30 AM - 10:00 AM)

How can more citizens conduct more business on the Internet while having greater control over the use of their information? The government, through its National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), has sought to answer that question. Having released the NSTIC, the White House then funded a program office in the Department of Commerce and, along with, it a series of pilot projects. These pilots are intended to explore how more and new kinds of business can be enabled on the Internet through the use of strong credentials and attribute exchanges while enhancing end-user privacy. Attend this workshop to hear from pilot participants as to how identity will help them expand their business. The key issues and questions this session addresses include: • What is the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace and how will it affect my business? • Why are enterprises like yours participating in NSTIC pilot programs? • How can greater business be enabled through attribute exchanges and stronger identities while preserving end-user privacy?

30 July, 2013 (08:30 AM - 10:00 AM)

Identity and access management (IAM) infrastructure needs to meet the demands of an increasingly networked and outsourced world. Cross-domain access is now becoming commonplace. In order to manage the growing complexity, select standards based products that support more granular and adaptive decision making. Key questions addressed include: • How do you architect to meet the demands of social, mobile, cloud and big data without chasing after point solutions? • How can you evolve increasingly federated IAM systems toward more adaptive access?

30 July, 2013 (01:00 PM - 02:30 PM)

At the root of the mobile strategy is the information users need and for which risk of disclosure needs to be managed. BYOD adds another dimension to the problem. This workshop examines the conflicts and trade-offs between use case requirements, application architecture and security, along with decision logic to help navigate through them. This workshop addresses the following questions: • What can I do about unmanaged or unmanageable device? • How do I adapt endpoint and data protection architectures to address BYOD or endpoint independence models? • How do I create a mobility strategy?

30 July, 2013 (03:30 PM - 05:00 PM)

Security and risk metrics are subjects of never-ending discussions. In this analyst-led, collaborative workshop we review a practical approach to developing security and risk metrics, and then break into small groups to develop an example metrics list, metrics dashboard, and/or metrics program plan. The results are then socialized with the whole group, so that all participants can use this knowledge in developing or enhancing their metrics programs. This workshop addresses the following questions: • What should good security and risk metrics look like? • What are the actual metrics I can start my program with? • How do I communicate security and risk metrics with management?

This workshop takes attendees through the four key steps required for a successful SSN remediation program: Locate SSNs; analyze the results; implement change; create new, repeatable processes. The key issues this workshop addresses include: • Tailoring the program to each organization’s culture and needs • Identifying key stakeholders in the process • Working with legal counsel to determine relevant laws and policies • Establishing long-term plans and programs to support the efforts

Workshop: Cloud Risk Manifesto (For End Users Only. Pre-Registration Required. Limit 2 per attendee. Registration will open on June 17th.)

31 July, 2013 (09:15 AM - 10:45 AM)

Adoption of cloud services has lagged expectations. In part, this is because cloud providers aren’t addressing the IT risks associated with hosting sensitive data, regulated or critical business processes. Furthermore, internal partners criticize IT for a “lack of adoption” without understanding availability, compliance, data disclosure and other risks. This workshop gives voice to the IT Risk Management issues that cloud providers, business partners and IT leadership need to understand and address in order to be able to tap into cloud value. Participants go away with requirements and policy statements that can be communicated to providers, business partners, sourcing and legal to level-set the expectations that must be addressed before these services can be more fully utilized, buy the enterprise or in its supply-chain. The key questions answered in this workshop include: • What are the risks that I need my cloud supplier to address so I can go “all in”? • What are the risks I need my business patterns to understand? • What cloud usage can I tolerate in the offerings from service providers?

Workshop: Shifting IAM Design Principles and Adjusting Your Capabilities Architecture (For End Users Only. Pre-Registration Required. Limit 2 per attendee. Registration will open on June 17th.)

31 July, 2013 (09:15 AM - 10:45 AM)

The rising IAM complexity is driving a shift in IAM design principles from “Manage Access” to “Manage Access Risk.” In this workshop, we discuss how leading organizations are trying to factor “risk” in IAM architecture strategies. This workshop addresses the following questions: • How do you examine IAM capabilities inherent risk? • How do you reduce risk by using a systematic method to adjust architecture? • How do you make a case for and communicate the required change?

Workshop: Securing the Remote and Mobile Workforce (For End Users Only. Pre-Registration Required. Limit 2 per attendee. Registration will open on June 17th.)

31 July, 2013 (01:20 PM - 02:50 PM)

Today, many organizations are pursuing strategies to enable mobile work from any device, any location and at any time of the day. Changes in use cases and mobile work patterns, and the demand for secure remote and mobile access solutions are already influencing policy changes, investments in upgraded infrastructure, and significant changes in IT network, application and security architecture. A mix of technologies — secure wired, wireless, virtual private network (VPN), and server-hosted virtual desktop (SHVD) infrastructure — is needed to support new and expanded use cases for remote and mobile access. In this workshop attendees interact with peers to address the identity and security requirements for common remote and mobile work scenarios, and collaborate on controls best suited for modern workforces. Remote and mobile work scenarios to be examined by breakout groups: 1. Work-from-home programs 2. Road warriors and other extreme mobile workers 3. External access by vendors and partners 4. Individual employees with multiple devices 5. Establishing mobile-device and user identity

Different paths to maturity are discussed based on enterprises’ requirements, and the following questions are addressed: • How is the Gartner Hybrid Cloud Networking maturity model applied to build a network modernization road map and strategy? • What use cases drive network virtualization requirements? • How can organizations avoid common SDN and network virtualization pitfalls?

Workshop: Security Governance for the 21st-Century Enterprise (For End Users Only. Pre-Registration Required. Limit 2 per attendee. Registration will open on June 17th.)

01 August, 2013 (08:30 AM - 10:00 AM)

Most security program failures are not technology-related. Failure is more likely to occur because of poor governance or poor management of the overall program or individual projects. Many security programs lack clear priorities, goals and decision-making processes. As a result, they will likely or already do suffer from cost overruns, timeline slippages or reputational damage. This workshop provides practical guidance on transforming the approaches found in traditional IT security governance models that are focused only on meeting security objectives into practices that are directed at protecting enterprise assets, while focusing on achieving business objectives. The key questions answered in this workshop include: • What does an effective holistic information security program look like? • How best can you establish effective, ongoing security governance? • What constitutes sound formal governance processes and functions for information protection? • How can you ensure that the governance forums are made up of the right people?
