Léo Apotheker is CEO of SAP AG, a position he has held since 2008. A software industry veteran, Apotheker's passion for technology developed in the 1980's, and today he knows the industry in and out. Initial forays into software programming helped him identify his true talent and strengths: working with customers to demonstrate the value of innovative software solutions. In the course of his career, he has visited thousands of customers, gaining unique insight into their industry-specific needs and global business processes.

Since 1996, Alan has driven strategies delivering globalization of businesses and the IT Function. He globalized Shell Chemicals as CIO (1996); served as one of the leaders of IT for Shell, transforming IT into a more mature, cost-effective community of professionals; and as CIO (2003), led Downstream in one of the industry's largest global transformations. Alan became Shell's CIO in July 2006, introducing OneIT as the third phase of Shell's IT transformation.
