Aligning Communications with the Business, Applications, and Computing: A Pragmatic Approach
3 October 2006

In order for IT to meet the challenging business demands of greater agility, better service quality and reduced costs, it is clear that networking/communications, the rest of IT infrastructure (like computing and storage), applications development teams, and the business will need to be much more tightly coupled than today. How this will happen is a tall order; in this ATC, we tackle this crucial issue from the perspective of networking and communications.

Topics Discussed

Gartner analysts discussed with participants the following topics:

  • How can networking be more tightly coupled to business needs?
  • What should network managers do to address new application demands?
  • What role does the network play in the real-time infrastructure?
  • How do we make managing the network agile?
