Eric Goodness is a member of the Internet of Things team within the Technology and Service Providers (T&SP) research unit. He works with both user and vendor clients to make better decisions about IoT and related mobility strategy and tactics.

Eric Goodness's Recent Gartner Activity
Mr. Goodness focuses on four areas for the IoT: (1) The supportive and transformative influence of third-party IT services, Outsourcing and Managed Services for The Internet of Things. (2) IoT ecosystem relationships for the realization of value from investments in The Internet of Things. (3) IoT software and platforms with a focus on connected products and how connected products transform Customer Experience through engagement, data enrichment and presentment and the Monetization of Things. (4) The unique role of CSPs and MNOs in The Internet of Things. Additionally, Mr. Goodness's research agenda covers elements of the digital workplace focusing on how enterprises plan, build and source the mobile estate - specifically managed services and outsourcing for smartphones, tablets, field service devices, and related systems and applications. Mr. Goodness was an early service product manager for "smart services" and remote management services. He now extends this subject matter expertise on service automation and other cognitive functions into the emerging IoT platform services market. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Goodness held a number of management positions for network and communications manufacturers. His roles ranged from worldwide operations responsibilities for business development, network design and deployment; presales bid and proposal and project management. Mr. Goodness also was responsible for service product management associated with Enterprise and Service Provider network equipment and software. In addition to the Internet of Things, during his tenure at Gartner Mr. Goodness has tracked and followed diverse markets including: network hardware maintenance and communications software support, remote IT monitoring and management (IT managed services), network and communications systems outsourcing, telecom expense management, managed mobility services and Mobility-as-a-Service (outsourcing).
