Roles and Responsibilities

Tim Zimmerman is a Vice President at Gartner and covers enterprise access layer connectivity and IoT networking. Mr. Zimmerman's focus is on the end user deployment of wired switching and wireless LAN architectures and governing applications but also includes IoT solutions for asset tracking, indoor location services and RFID. He assists clients in how emerging trends around these technologies are transforming and disrupting organizations across a number of industries. At Gartner, his thought leadership encompasses not only Wi-Fi but also includes LF, HF, UHF and UWB RFID for applicable passive and active tag, reader and gateway functionality across the enterprise networking and IoT ecosystems. With his technical and entrepreneurial background, Mr. Zimmerman has advised global enterprise and government end users on their strategic planning, RFPs, and vendor selection for over thirty years. He also advises vendors on product requirements, product positioning, market messaging and competitive analysis.
