His inquiry and research goals focus on providing Gartner clients with in-depth technical and strategic analysis and research deliverables pertaining to the latest security market technologies, trends, technology alignments and competitive security market dynamics. For technology providers, his analysis includes a close examination of market messaging, go-to-market strategies for both current and future road-mapped product or service offerings, end-user buying behaviors, provider technology development plans, and various other business attributes to identify the key competitive differentiation and competitive strategies. For end users, he is focused on identifying best-practice technologies to address strategic customer threat mitigation requirements and to provide insights into the best strategies and technologies clients must employ to successfully combat advancing threats and their threat and threat management goals.

Mr. Pingree has been an active member of the information security industry for many years. He has consulted for large financial institutions, corporations and government entities on technologies ranging from firewalls, intrusion detection, networks, system penetration, risk management, compliance, e-discovery, forensics and advanced malware, and he has served as a chief security architect at both PeopleSoft and NetScreen. Currently, Mr. Pingree is an active member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) of Silicon Valley, as well as the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), and is a published author of two books. He is a Founding Board Member of the Digital Forensics Association, where he is serving as VP. In his spare time, he enjoys stock trading, hiking, nature and performance cars.
