Roles and Responsibilities
Gregor Petri is a Research Vice President at Gartner, covering cloud strategies and the use of public cloud computing. Mr. Petri is also the Agenda Manager for the Built and Market Cloud-based offerings Key Initiative and is the Country Research Lead for the Benelux region. Public cloud computing is a key transformational force for enabling digital or software-defined business, which is rapidly changing the vendor, user and service provider landscapes. Presenting perspectives on the impact of public cloud computing on multi-enterprise and ecosystem scenario's in the new digital era and helping organizations plan for this transition are an important part of Mr. Petri's activities. He is a member of Gartner's CSP Cloud and Communications team.

Gregor Petri's Recent Gartner Activity
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Petri was a regular speaker at industry events and wrote one of the first cloud primers - "Shedding Light on Cloud Computing" (2009)- and "Lean, or the Art of Cloud Computing Management" (2011). Both highlighted the role of public cloud computing in enabling digital business sites around the world. He syndicated his LeanITmanager blog, and was named by Cloud Computing Journal as one of the world's Top 100 Bloggers on Cloud Computing. Earlier in his career, Mr. Petri worked as a Management Trainee in the office of the CIO at Akzo, analyzed just-in-time manufacturing at Philips and was part of launching several IT innovations, such as object-oriented ERP applications, mobile business applications and XML servers in Europe. Prior to his current position, he was Senior Director of product marketing, EMEA, at CA Technologies. Mr. Petri is a former board member of the Dutch Web-Services Association, the XML Users Group Holland and Geel-Zwart field hockey, where he actively played until taking up running. He studied business economics and information technology in Rotterdam and Tilburg. During his study, he wrote and marketed one of the first European shareware applications and founded his first consumer electronics and media startup.
