Roles and Responsibilities

Mary Ruddy is a VP Analyst and Chief of Research for Security and Risk Management. She guides Gartner's insights on security and identity, spanning key initiatives in Gartner for IT Leaders, Gartner for Technical Professionals and Gartner for CISOs and their Teams. Her primary coverage areas are security and identity architecture and access management including customer IAM, single sign-on, identity protocols and API protection. Other topics she covers include risk-based and adaptive authentication, identity analytics, bring your own identity (BYOI), government identity initiatives and identity standards. She was a founding member of the OASIS Electronic Identity Credential Trust Elevation Methods Technical Committee and Chair of Identity Commons. She was also a founding member of the Identity Ecosystem Steering Group (IDESG), which was formed in response to the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC).
