Background
Previous Experience
Prior to his becoming a Research Director for Gartner, Mr. Cannon was the interim Chief Executive Officer, responsible for establishing the Devon-based shared services provider, Delt Shared Services Limited. This now established and successful client wholly-owned joint venture company has set a benchmark for governance of public sector operations. This followed his time as the CIO for Plymouth City Council where he was voted, in 2012, as one of the TechRepublic CIO50, a group of the most influential and innovative CIOs in the U.K. During this time he represented the UK public sector on numerous advisory boards, as well as the UK's Local Government CIO Council and Local Resilience Forums, looking at the emergency planning needs for the south west of England. Mr. Cannon has long been an innovative thinker and achiever having also founded an innovation award winning, Scottish based, Software development company. Developing solutions for the health sector, the police and local government. Since joining Gartner he has advised many global government agencies, including those in the defense and intelligence domains, on cloud strategy, adoption migration, and optimization. His expertise in shared service establishment and governance has be relied upon by many to set up and rectify existing schemes that have run into challenges. Both of these aspects has allowed him to work with government agencies struggling with mounting technical debt and looking to move forward with legacy modernization. These insights are brought together for the benefit of TSP Product Leaders who want to better understand the trends and buying patterns in the public sector. Mr. Cannon brings his practical, no-nonsense approach to help hone marketing messages. As a qualified kayak coach, Mr. Cannon can also help you enjoy safe time paddling on the water if time and engagements allows.
