Peter Havart-Simkin is a Research Director in the IoT Group within Gartner's Technology and Service Provider research group. Mr. Havart-Simkin's research coverage includes IoT overall with an emphasis on IoT cloud solutions, platforms and architectures along with IoT integration and IIoT Digital Twins. His agenda includes helping enterprise clients and technology vendors understand the IoT landscape and successfully navigate the challenges of building IoT solutions through assisting with strategy and decision making.

Mr. Havart-Simkin has over 30 years of industry experience including networking and communications, service-oriented architectures (SOA), service-oriented integration (SOI), cloud computing, and security. He has founded startups including taking one to an IPO on Nasdaq and held both CTO and CMO roles in public software companies. He has also driven and been involved with a number of technology company mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Havart-Simkin was VP of Marketing and Corporate Development and a member of the executive team for Machine to Machine Intelligence (M2Mi), an IoT and M2M applications and security company based at NASA's Ames Research Park at Moffett Field, California. In this role, he also worked on IoT security projects with the Department of Homeland Security and on IoT testbeds with the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) in conjunction with Oracle, GE Digital, Infosys and Altoros. In addition, Mr. Havart-Simkin has had both business and technology leadership positions in software companies in the U.S. and U.K., including one of the first public internet companies.
