Jackie Fenn is a Vice President and Gartner Fellow in Gartner's CIO Research group. She works with organizations to define and apply best practices in innovation, including assessing innovation maturity, launching an innovation program or group, defining an innovation process and imagining future scenarios. She advises on how to drive a culture of creativity, and the role that behavioral science insights can play in improving innovation, engagement and outcomes. Ms. Fenn is the originator of the Gartner Hype Cycle model, which has been adopted by news media and other organizations worldwide to explain how technologies move from hype to disillusionment and beyond. Her book "Mastering the Hype Cycle: How to Choose the Right Innovation at the Right Time" was published by Harvard Business Press in 2008.

Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Fenn was a Principal Consultant at Logica North America, where she was responsible for artificial intelligence activities within the United States. She was a Consultant to commercial and government organizations about the appropriate application of intelligent technologies, and designed and built expert systems for a range of tasks, including product formulation and medical diagnosis.
