He has a background in security technologies aligned to privacy controls, and has led research into consent management and digital ethics. He has worked and lead security deployments in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. He was the security lead for the outsourced component of the Criminal Records Bureau in the U.K. and has worked in penetration and web application security testing and consultancy earlier in his career. He was a Senior Scientist in the U.K. Defence Evaluation Research Agency, where he worked defence-based information security projects.
